In August of this year my wife and I attended Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando. I must say I had a blast! Between the convention and the event at Disney Hollywood Studios (Last Tour to Endor) I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The 501st and the Rebel Legion are awesome! I hope one day to enter their ranks. (I can see the conversation with my wife now... "You want to make a suit of what?")Then I entered the R2 Builders room... All I can say is OMG!!! This was so amazing! I could not believe all the droids! I had never dreamed that building these were possible. The work I was seeing was beyond belief. I talked to a couple of the builders, not that I can remember who, and got it in my head that I could "possibly" build one. I grabbed a brochure and headed out. I could have spent hours in that room (although my wife's eyes were glazing over).
Then I wondered by the Droid Races... I've been hooked ever since. I got home and hit the astromech site and read, read, read.... I soon felt comfortable with the begining stages of building and got in one the A&A parts run. The rest is history. Soon I'll have my own R2!
